1. Photograph the nameplate; capture the entire code
Temposonics RH uses a rod housing; RP refers to a profile housing. Review Balluff BTL5 / BTL7, Gefran MK4 / IK4 and GEMCO 955 at exact variant level rather than assuming a brand-wide match. A Gefran PK potentiometer upgrade is a retrofit that requires a separate supply and controller-input review.
2. Compare the drawing and electrical definition
Measure the active stroke, head null, tip dead zone, complete installation length, port seal and magnet clearance. Compare supply voltage, connector keying, every pin, SSI encoding or fieldbus identity and the machine output scaling.
3. Approve a proposed configuration and validate a sample
A quotation should identify differences, proposed accessories and acceptance criteria. Fieldbus replacement can require PLC device-identity and configuration changes with access to the machine program. Confirm sample operation on the actual controller and machine before authorizing production. No universal plug-and-play or pin-for-pin compatibility is claimed.
